Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire will be back to host the 2012 ACM Awards. After a praiseworthy performance during the 2011 awards show — and Shelton’s skyrocketing public profile — inviting the two to run the show again was likely a no-brainer for producers. The Zac Brown Band were nominated for eight awards at last night’s American Country Awards and five at last month’s CMA Awards in Nashville, plus one award at the American Music Awards. Today, their mantle looks the same as it did two months ago. The band tweeted about their recent run of bad country music awards luck.

The Dec. 5 FOX broadcast honors country artists in traditional categories like Artist of the Year, but also unconventional categories like Touring Headline Act of the Year.

Nominations for the American Music Awards were announced today, and British singer Adele leads the pack with four nominations, including Artist of the Year and Favorite Female Artist. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne and country group The Band Perry were right behind Adele with three nods apiece. Perry will perform on the show, as will Pitbull.
