Power Outage

Bus students will arrive in Laramie at approximately 12:15 p.m. The early release applies only to Rock River School.

A power outage has forced Laramie County School District 1 officials to cancel school today (Friday) at Gilchrist Elementary and Clawson Elementary.

A major power outage affecting a good portion of the city of Laramie occurred Monday, Dec. 19 at 7:20 p.m.

Black Hills Energy crews have restored power to some 333 customers in south Cheyenne.

The thunderstorm that rolled through Laramie about 6:20 p.m. led to a power outage for 685 customers of Rocky Mountain Power.

Weather conditions and the nature of the repairs may extend the outage beyond 10 p.m.

The state requires 175 days of student contact and does not budget for snow days.

“We have residents who have been without power for over fourteen hours,” said Albany County Emergency Manager Aimee Binning.

According to Rocky Mountain Power, a crew was on site as of 10:30 p.m. and power was set to be restored by 12:30 a.m.
