Similar scams have been reported across the country over the past year or so.

Romance scams cost Americans billions in 2022, and they're only getting worse.

One big red flag with this scam as well as many others is that intended victims in some cases are being asked to pay with gift cards or wire transfers.

The scammer has done some research and knows something about the targeted business and uses that knowledge to get the employees to trust him.

This sounds like something out of a movie, but it's a real scam that has apparently had some success.

In fact, the video, the image of the celebrity, and the product may all be fake, according to the Wyoming chapter of the AARP.

An old phone scam has been reported quite a bit in Sublette County recently. That's according to the Sublette County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. According to the post, the agency has been getting a lot of reports of someone representing themselves as a sheriff's deputy calling up potential victims and demanding payment for an alleged arrest warrant...

Some of the common scams include such things as "debt relief calls, imposter calls, investment scams, charity scams, extended car warranties, prize and lottery scams, and travel scams."

The Better Business Bureau says online puppy scams last year cost people over $1 million.

While Lt. Hickerson is an actual CPD officer, he is not making the calls.

In fact such scams have been a recurrent problem for many years, across Wyoming and the entire country.

The Wyoming Department of Health recently announced that some Medicaid clients on the receiving end of a text message scam.
