Yellowstone National Park officials have put out a news release to remind tourists not to approach, engage with, or otherwise irritate Bull Elk during mating season, which has started this month.
"Don't pet the wildlife". This seems like a no-brainer to the average Wyomingite, but for some strange reason, a large percentage of our annual tourist population just doesn't get it.
It's a proven fact that Yellowstone National Park is one of the greatest places you can ever visit. However, for some tourists, it just isn't good enough. This is a throwback to one of the more famous tourist moments involving Yellowstone when tourists complained about the "trained bears".
The vehicles had it coming. Seriously. Bull elk during rut will aggressively attack just about anyone and anything. But, there was one infamous bull nearly 10 years ago that went out of his way to set a vehicle damage record.
I fully realize that the pic you're trying to get of a Yellowstone bison up close might be the highlight of your vacation. But, these geniuses are truly tempting fate.
