Wolves

I've seen a lot of wolf/bear encounters in Yellowstone National Park, but I rarely see it go this way. A recent visitor to the park shared video of a white wolf chasing off a big bear.

It's quite often that we come across videos people put on YouTube or Facebook from their trip into Yellowstone and we watch with joy.

The pack's size was reduced from 27 to 24 with two female pups and one female yearling being killed.

When you think of bears and wolves, you think of them both being predators and not getting along. We see here that it's not always that way!

It's not often that you get to witness a wolf pack helping raise their young, but that's exactly what's just been shared out of Yellowstone National Park. The unique video shows adults in the Junction Butte Pack teaching their young how to "wolf".

It happens every day in Yellowstone even though we don't always get to witness it. A driver traveling through the Lamar Valley shared video of a grizzly surrounded by a wolf pack.

In just one day in September, videographer captures Yellowstone wolves, grizzly, coyotes and a great gray owl.

I half-expected to hear Looney Tunes music playing in the background. Hunters just shared video showing a wolf chasing a coyote while a bull elk and grizzly watched in Yellowstone National Park.

I would have never thought of attempting this in a million years, but I'm glad this guy did. He took his thermal camera out at night into Yellowstone and captured video of 9 wolves surrounding 1 grizzly.

In Wyoming, we exist where multiple apex predators compete for dominance. That reality was on display at Yellowstone National Park recently as a black wolf decided to challenge a resting Grizzly. He would eventually regret it.

Hypothetical question: how do you know if you've made it as a celebrity if you're a wolf? Answer: when National Geographic makes a movie about you. That's exactly what happened to one black wolf in Yellowstone National Park a few years ago.

If you're smart, you do things and then you learn from those things. I'm guessing that will happen with the scientists who put a collar camera on a wild wolf as it didn't go as planned.
