‘The Voice’ Blind Auditions Recap: Mother-Daughter Duo 2Steel Girls Join Team Blake After Singing ‘Before He Cheats’
Country duo 2Steel Girls sacrificed too much to head back to Nashville without turning a single coach’s chair on ‘The Voice’ on Wednesday night. Before the mother-daughter duo took the stage to sing Carrie Underwood‘s ‘Before He Cheats,’ mom Allison talked about selling the family’s house and truck and quitting her job for her family band’s future.
While Dad and a son also join the women on the road for shows, it was just Allison and Krystal singing for their future. Their musky voices impressed Cee Lo Green, who turned around just before Blake Shelton slapped his button. Adam Levine got the first word, calling 2Steel Girls ”a freight train of angry, jilted women,” in a good way.
Shelton successfully pleaded his case for the women, claiming he’d protect the integrity of their relationship in a “savage” industry. Shelton didn’t turn around again until the night’s last singer, although he did prove he could moonwalk after former Dream Street singer Chris Trousdale sang ‘Glad you Came.’ All four judges battled over Nicole Nelson, who’s performance of ‘Hallelujah’ was the crown jewel of Wednesday’s night episode of ‘The Voice.’
“You can not pretend that kind of connection with people,” Green said. Nelson, who earlier talked about her bohemian lifestyle said she lived an organic life.
“I too am an organic kinda guy,” Shelton muttered, convincing nobody. The Bronx singer went on to choose Team Adam, leaving Shelton with just one new member of Team Blake. He has five of his 16 acts chosen, heading into next week’s blind auditions which are just on Monday and Tuesday.
