Question:

I live in an apartment, and the street in front of my building is public parking. There is a car that has been parked in front of my door for a month, but the owner does not live here. I'm just wondering how long it is until something can be done about it?

Answer:

"While the following ordinance can provide a memory for your situation, you will need to check with the other occupants of your building, as well as the owner, to ensure that the vehicle does not belong to one of them. If you were to initiate a tow and the owner of that vehicle could prove they were an occupant of the apartment complex, you could ultimately be held responsible for the tow charges incurred.

City of Laramie Municipal Code 10.36.100 states the following:

'It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle for a continuous period of more than twenty four hours on a street within the city in front of or alongside property belonging to or occupied by another person without the express consent of the owner or occupant.' The penalty for this violation is provided in Section 10.36.350 of this chapter. See Section 10.06.010 of this code concerning the city's power to have vehicles parked in violation of this section."

Ask the City Of Laramie is your chance to send the city that burning question that you have always wondered about such as: “Where can I get a city parking permit?” or “Why did my water usage rates go through the roof?”

Please note that the City of Laramie will answer as many questions as possible at their discretion.
