University of Wyoming Department of English associate professor and an adjunct faculty member in the Native American and Indigenous Studies Program, Caskey Russell, will be presenting the Sandeen Lecture in the Humanities on Monday, December 7.

Russell will be discussing “‘Then Fight For It’: The History of Alaskan Native Civil Rights,” which will be taking place at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom here. The webinar ID is 863 6699 1098.

Russell will examine the history of Alaskan Native civil rights through the context of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1945 that banned and penalized racial discrimination and segregation throughout the Alaska territory.

 

The Sandeen Lecture in the Humanities is named for Eric Sandeen, a former professor and chair of UW’s American Studies Program.
