Shane has the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any movie based in or filmed in the Cowboy State. The 1953 Oscar-winning western has a 97 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating.
Steven Speilberg's sci-fi classic Close Encounters of The Third Kind, famously filmed at Devils Tower National Monument, has a 96 percent score.
Wind River is tied for third place with an 87percent grade.
Quentin Tarantino's 2012 spaghetti-western Django Unchained, parts of which were filmed in Grand Teton National Park, also scored 87percent.
So too, did the 2005 blockbuster Brokeback Mountain.
Dances With Wolves, which won seven Academy Awards in 1990, scored 82percent.
The Rotten Tomatoes score factors both critical and audience reviews. Wind River and Django Unchained are tied for the best audience score, with 91percent.
