Wyoming Couple Celebrates Their 73rd Valentine’s Day Together
Love is in the air today. Especially in Casper, where Joe and Eldine Maixner will spend their 73rd Valentine's Day together as a married couple. Joe and Eldine currently have the longest running marriage in Wyoming, dating back to their wedding day on February 2, 1946.
The high school sweethearts fell in love in the 10th grade in their hometown of Bee, Nebraska. After high school, Joe enlisted in the Navy and served in War War II. When the war was over, Eldine joined him in New York City.
From there, they lived in Chicago before eventually settling in Cheyenne, where they raised their two children. Over the years, their family has grown to include grandchildren. Several years ago, they moved to Casper to be closer to their five great-grandchildren.
Still madly in love after all these years, the Maixners hope to someday hold the record for the longest-running marriage in the country.
