Wyoming Highway Closed For Season
Wyoming Highway 70 (WYO 70) over Battle Pass closed for the winter on Saturday, according to a release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
WYDOT says blowing snow and poor visibility during a winter storm forced the closure of the road. WYO 70 joins a portion of Wyoming Highway 130 (WYO 130) in being closed for the winter.
The gates are closed annually on both alpine roadway sections when a combination of low traffic and heavy snowfall make plowing the roads impractical, according to WYDOT.
Crews from Saratoga and Baggs will re-open WYO 70 when warmer weather returns in the spring.
