Governor Matt Mead, several state officials, members of the Wyoming Department of Transportation and some supporters gathered on Wyoming Highway 28 over South Pass on Tuesday.

A ceremony dedicated Highway 28 as the "Wyoming Women's Suffrage Pathway," and a new sign was unveiled.

The dedication honors Wyoming's commitment to women's suffrage, and giving women the right to vote before any other state.

The Wyoming Territory gave United States women the right to vote in 1869.

Governor Mead spoke to those in attendance along with Secretary of State Ed Buchanan, Senator Tara Nethercott, and Representative Jim Allen. Karla Stackis and Jennifer Trabing from the Wyoming Secretary's Office also made remarks.
