Wyoming’s Worst Yellowstone Tourists of 2016
2016 was a banner year for tourists making poor choices in Yellowstone National Park. With more than four million people visiting the park each year, it’s not surprising there are any number of incidents involving poor interaction between the tourists and the parks wildlife and geological features. This year’s list ran the gamut from outrageous to tragic to just plain ignorant. Here are some of the examples.

The “High On Life” group faced charges after videotaping themselves walking on the Grand Prismatic Spring and posting it on social media. They were also charged for similar stunts in other states. Read more here.

A 23-year-old Oregon man died after falling into a hot spring while walking more than 200 yards off the boardwalk near Norris Geyser. Authorities say there were no remains to recover. Reports say he and his sister were looking for a spring to soak in. Read more here.

A young bison calf had to be euthanized after being picked up by tourists who thought it was lost and cold. The man paid a fine after pleading guilty to intentionally disturbing wildlife. Read more here.

More Yellowstone Tourists Caught Breaking the Rules
Six people were caught walking far off the boardwalk near Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone. They were confronted by another tourist, and a Park ranger was alerted and escorted the group out of the park. Read more here.
