CITY OF LARAMIE PRESS RELEASE:

Tranquility in Historic Downtown Laramie was disrupted in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 24, 2014 by a significant structure fire.   The fire, reported at approximately 4:30 AM, occurred in the 400 block of South Second Street.  The Laramie Fire Department battled the blaze for over four (4) hours before gaining control at approximately 9:00 AM.

The building in which the fire began is a total loss.  Through the efforts of the Laramie Fire Department, adjacent buildings remain intact with inspection necessary to determine if losses have occurred.  Appropriate agencies have been notified and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Significant smoke emanated from the fire and drifted through much of Laramie’s historic downtown.  The Laramie Fire Department and the Laramie Main Street Alliance are assisting affected businesses in the area to achieve normal business operations as best as possible.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
