Happy National Pizza Day. Observed each year on February 9th, it's a tribute to one of America's favorite foods.

According to NationalDayCalendar.com, over 3 billion pizzas are sold in America every year. Nearly 20% of all U.S. restaurants serve pizza, including some great locally-owned shops here in Wyoming.

Here's a few of the best in the Cowboy State:

Casper

Racca's Pizzeria Napoletano - For 'pizza purists', it's all about the brick oven. The traditional presentation at Racca's is one of the most authentic tastes of Italy you will find in Wyoming.

Bid's Place - If you like the toppings piled on high, this mom-and-pop Mills shop is your spot. Any place that serves a pizza called "The Piglet" has to be good. And their meatball sub is legit, too.

Charlie T's Pizzeria - They have a dish called the "Coronary Calzone". Oddly enough, you can order it "gluten free".

Cheyenne

Bella Fuoco Wood Fired Pizza - This new downtown bistro is an incredible combination of old-school Italian brick oven pizza with wildly imaginative flavors like the "Jalapeno Pizza Popper". Although they just opened their first restaurant, their truck has been a Captial City favorite for several years.

L'osteria Mondello Italian - If you like thin crust, East Coast-style pizza, Mondello's is one of the only places in Wyoming that truly tastes like New York. "Joe's Favorite" is one of several signature pies on the menu, which are pricey, but very good.

East Coast Pizza - A great place to grab a big slice while you're shopping at the Frontier Mall. Or better yet, try their Pizza Rolls; they're delicious and cheap.

Laramie

Grand Avenue Pizza - This downtown Laramie institution is known for their awesome ambience and their crazy culinary creations, including the amazing "Thai Pie", the "Southest Philly" and the "Carribean" pizza with jerk chicken, pineapple and banana.

Crowbar & Grill - This place is more of a gastro pub than a pizza parlor, but their thin crust pizzas are superb. Like Grand Avenue, they also incorporate unique flavors, including their fully loaded "Sledgehammer", which is servied with a fried egg.

Alibi Pub - This quirky bistro specializes in craft cocktails and small, thin crust pizzas baked in their wood fired oven. Every pizza on the menu is under $10 and they pair nicely with the Alibi's "Adult Grape Juice".
