Badger Creek Wildfire - June 2018

UPDATE (11:20 a.m.): A public meeting has been scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Albany County Fairgrounds. Representatives from the incident management team will be present to provide an update on the fire & be available to answer questions from the public.

The fire is now estimated at 5,241 acres, as of 11 a.m. The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Black said that while crews focused on structure protection Tuesday, crews were able to begin building some containment lines in the southwest portion of the fire. The Rocky Mountain Team Black assumed command of the Badger Creek Fire at 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Crews are also working to build and improve the fire line on the south and west portions of the fire.  There is still zero percent containment on the fire.

Highway 230 is still closed from Woods Landing to the Colorado state line. Highway 10 is closed from Woods Landing to the Colorado state line.

Structures have been destroyed in the fire and law enforcement is attempting to contact the property owners of those structures at this time. Forest Service Spokesman Aaron Voos said they cannot confirm the number of structures destroyed and that structures are not necessarily houses or residences.
