Cheyenne East Grad Brandon Nimmo Called Up To The Big Leagues
Five years after being drafted out of Wyoming American Legion Baseball, a Cheyenne East grad has received the call to play in the Big Leagues.
Center fielder Brandon Nimmo, the first round draft pick by New York Mets in 2011, has been promoted to the parent club, according to the Cheyenne Post 6 Board of Directors.
In 2016 with Triple-A Las Vegas, Nimmo has a .328 batting average in 63 games played, along with a .508 slugging percentage, 82 hits, 5 home runs and 37 RBI's.
Nimmo graduated from Cheyenne East in 2011, and helped Cheyenne Post 6 win the Wyoming Legion Baseball AA State Title in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
The 23-year old signed with the Mets shortly after the 2011 Legion Baseball season ended, and got a few games in the farm system in that same season, and he has gradually worked his way up since.
