Cheyenne Man Bound Over for Trial on 26 Charges
A 40-year-old Cheyenne man has been bound over to Laramie County District Court on 26 charges.
Matthew Laganiere is charged with four counts of burglary, seven counts of misdemeanor theft, one count of felony theft, two counts of misdemeanor attempted theft and 12 counts of forgery.
Laganiere was arrested on Nov. 15, 2017, after Laramie County deputies conducting a traffic stop found a box of checks and other items belonging to Gene and Anne Hess in his SUV.
A fatal shooting had taken place at the Hess' home the day before, and Laganiere is alleged to have burglarized the home sometime after the home was processed.
Laganiere is also accused of burglarizing three vehicles between Oct. 22, 2017 and Nov. 9, 2017, and using stolen checks and debit cards to make over $3,100 in purchases.
Laganiere remains jailed on a $30,000 cash bond. If convicted on all 26 counts, he could face up to 174-and-a-half years in prison.
