Cheyenne Sees Spike in Bicycle Crashes
Riding your bicycle in Cheyenne may be dangerous to your health.
A recently released report by the Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization shows bicycle crashes have more than doubled in the past year.
"We did actually see a spike in bicycle crashes in 2015," said Project Manager James Sims.
According to the 2015 Annual Crash Report for the Cheyenne Urban Area, there were 24 bicycle-related crashes in 2015, compared to 11 in 2014.
"I don't know if it's just more cyclists out, more people getting into the sport or what it is," said Cheyenne Police Officer Dan Long. "We don't know the reason."
2016 isn't shaping up to be much better either, as there has already been one fatal bicycle crash. The last time a cyclist was killed in Cheyenne was in 2009.
