Dance, Pie Auction, Open House and Western Festival At Virginia Dale
A Country Western Dance and Pie Auction will take place at Virginia Dale, Colorado on Friday, June 12. In addition, the 20th Annual Virginia Dale Open House and Western Festival will be held on Saturday, June 13.
The Western Dance and Pie Auction will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on June 12 at the Historic Virginia Dale Stage Station in Virginia Dale Colorado. The Pie Auction will take place during the dance intermission at approximately 9 p.m. This event is priced at ten dollars for each adult and free for children.
The dance will feature Live music by the Barely Gettin' By Band.
The 20th Annual Virginia Dale Community Open House and Western Festival Day takes place at the Historic Virginia Dale Overland Trail Stage Station on June 13 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This year’s theme is Early Western Transportation and will feature the Mormon handcart, buckboard, and the authentic chuck wagon.
Activities at the open house include well-known local actor Gordon Chaves portraying Jack Slade, and historical speakers will be on hand. The open house will also include a craft show, reenactments, games, pioneer exhibits, and a quilt raffle. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Admission to the Open House and Western Festival is free, but donations of canned goods and winter hates or gloves for Harvest Farm in Wellington, Colorado will be accepted.
To get to Virginia Dale, Colorado, travel south on Highway 287 from Laramie. Continue past Abbey of St. Walburga. The total driving distance from Laramie is 30 miles, and travel time is less than half an hour. Balloons and signs will be posted to help people locate the events.
