The two-and-half year wait for Laramie's newest theater is finally over.

Located in the UW Plaza, the theater has 10 screens, a wi-fi lounge, and offers assistive listening devices, closed captioning devices, and descriptive audio devices for viewers with special needs, according to the press release.

Construction on the project first started in August of 2014, but was interrupted by the passing of Mick McMurry, who was part of the group that owned the property. After McMurry's passing, the project resumed with new contractors. According to the press release, there were also defects found in the original construction that needed to be fixed. Further construction with the new contractors remedied the issue, but set back the opening date by several months.

The new theater will also offer a wide variety of snacks, including pizza, nachos, roasted nuts, and more. The menu will continually change, adding a little bit of variety to your viewing experience. Also on the menu will be nine flavors of frozen yogurt, which will also be subject to change.

The Studio City UW Plaza theater, operated by Movie Palace, Inc., will open its doors on Friday, April 28 with a charity event. During this event, which will serve as the theater's soft opening, the theater will show 5 films for the price of $2 per ticket through April 30. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Make-A-Wish Wyoming. A complete list of movies shown during the weekend can be found here.

An open house will be hosted at the theater on Wednesday, May 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. During this time, the theater will show previews on their 64' ARQ movie screen and serve food samples in the lobby.

The theater will announce their grand opening on Friday, April 14. Regular ticket prices range from $5.50 for bargain shows to $10 for regular shows.
