Horse Riding-Ask the City

Two young ladies were riding horses on Third Street and Grand Avenue last week side by side in the right hand lane. Is this legal?

Answer:

"Riding horses on Third Street and Grand Avenue pursuant to the Municipal Code, the code section reads as follows:

10.16.045-Section 31-5-08 Provisions applicable to persons riding animals, etc.

Every person riding an animal or driving any animal-drawn vehicle upon a roadway shall be granted all the rights and and shall be subject to all the duties applicable to a driver of a vehicle by this act, except those provisions of this act which by their very nature can have no application.
