Green River Wolves 2026 Football Preview from WyoPreps [VIDEO]

The Green River Wolves hope a fresh perspective equates to a fresh start on the gridiron. They made their fourth coaching change in the last nine years. Unfortunately for the Wolves, they've made just one playoff appearance in the last eight seasons, and that was last year. WyoPreps made its final stop on this year's Preseason Football Tour in GR to find out how the change is impacting the team only a few days into practice.

WYOPREPS PREVIEWS THE 2026 GREEN RIVER WOLVES

Enter Brennan Walk. Hired last spring, he takes over a program that's won only 13 games over the last eight seasons combined. Walk helped Mountain View to the Class 2A football state championship a year ago. He was the Buffalos' offensive coordinator. Brennan brings a winning mentality, as Mountain View qualified for the playoffs in five of his six years as an assistant coach. They reached at least the semifinals four times. As mentioned, Green River is coming off a playoff appearance after a 3-7 record in 2025. The Wolves finished fourth in the competitive 3A West Conference. They lost their two all-state players from last fall to graduation.

The good news for Walk is that GR returns six starters on both sides of the ball. Irie Kuball and Jake Stanton look to be playmakers on the outside for the Wolves. The duo combined for 29 receptions for over 400 yards and 5 TDs. Senior Noah Hemphill was second on the squad in defensive points per game in 2025. He had 42 tackles, with 3 tackles for loss. Hemphill had 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, and 10 pass breakups. Nano Plancarte is one of the linemen who should provide a veteran presence on the line of scrimmage. WyoPreps discussed how practice is going with Hemphill, Plancarte, and Stanton, including making the transition to a new coaching staff, systems, and philosophy. Coach Walk also spoke with WyoPreps about his transition into being 'the guy,' how the team has adapted so far, and more.

Green River will scrimmage Walk's old squad, Mountain View, on Friday. They officially begin the 2026 season at home on Friday, September 4 versus Rawlins. We have a few pictures from last Friday's practice. Those are below.
