A 39-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after allegedly strangling his pregnant girlfriend.

According to arrest records, police were called to a physical domestic incident at an address in Cheyenne at 4:02 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20.

Police say when they arrived on the scene and contacted the alleged victim, they noticed bruising on the lower, left side of her neck and blood on her lower lip.

The woman reportedly told police that her boyfriend of one year, Travis James Salway, pushed her in the sternum area and then grabbed her by the neck, applying pressure for approximately five seconds where she couldn't breathe.

Police say the woman is seven months pregnant with Salway's child.

Salway was arrested and subsequently charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, felony strangulation of a household member, and felony aggravated assault on a pregnant woman.

He posted a $3,000 cash bond following his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Wednesday morning and is scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary hearing next Wednesday, June 28, at 2:30 p.m.
