Forecasters Say Cheyenne And Laramie Could Face Heavy Rainfall, Severe Storms
Both Cheyenne and Laramie could face severe storms featuring heavy rainfall, strong winds and possibly isolated large hail.
That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service. The agency posted the following on its website:
After a short break yesterday, monsoon moisture has returned to the area today and is expected to produce scattered to numerous thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. While heavy rainfall is the primary threat today, isolated storms will have the potential to produce strong gusty winds and hail. A few showers and thunderstorms may continue through the night tonight and into Tuesday morning.
There is a marginal risk for excessive rainfall over much of the area on Monday and Tuesday as monsoon moisture returns to the region. The areas in green represent where heavy rain and excessive rainfall could lead to increased chances for flash flooding. Expect scattered to numerous storms across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska on Monday. These storms will begin early in the afternoon and could continue into the overnight hours. On Tuesday, expected another round of scattered convection, but will less coverage of storms. There is also a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms for portions of the area on both days.
