Publishers Clearing House Scam Reported In Laramie
Laramie Police say they are getting multiple reports about scammers claiming to be with the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.
That's according to a post on the Laramie Police Department Facebook page.
Laramie Residents Asked To Report Scammers
Police say you should never send money or share personal information over the phone with people you don't know. Some of the scammers can be very persuasive, in many cases making a living conning people. The LPD is asking anyone who has fallen victim to call the non-emergency line at 307 721-2526.
It's worth noting that the Wall Street Journal and several other outlets are reporting that the Publishers Clearing House has filed for bankruptcy. But that isn't likely to stop con artists from using the name to try to scam people.
After all, the organization has been operating a legitimate contest for many years, a fact which is well known to the public.
