Periods of very strong to locally damaging winds are expected across the area this week, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne says.

The NWS says the strongest period of winds will be tonight through Tuesday evening.

  • The wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming can expect wind gusts exceeding 80 mph. A few gusts between 90 and 100 mph are possible.
  • Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Wheatland, and Douglas can expect gusts of 65 to 75 mph.
  • Remaining areas of the High Plains can expect gusts between 55 and 65 mph, mainly during the day Tuesday.
