Up to 100 MPH Wind Gusts Possible in Southeast Wyoming This Week
Periods of very strong to locally damaging winds are expected across the area this week, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne says.
High Wind Warnings have been issued for most of southeast Wyoming for Monday night through Tuesday evening.

In effect now through Friday for the wind prone areas of I-80 In effect Monday evening into Tuesday evening for Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Wheatland, and Douglas High Wind Watch expanded eastward into the Nebraska panhandle for 5AM to 5PM Tuesday A cold front Tuesday evening will bring a brief reprieve from the strong winds along with scattered banded snow showers. Another round of strong winds is expected Wednesday mid morning into Thursday morning
The NWS says the strongest period of winds will be tonight through Tuesday evening.
- The wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming can expect wind gusts exceeding 80 mph. A few gusts between 90 and 100 mph are possible.
- Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Wheatland, and Douglas can expect gusts of 65 to 75 mph.
- Remaining areas of the High Plains can expect gusts between 55 and 65 mph, mainly during the day Tuesday.
The NWS says after a brief reprieve Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, another round of strong winds is possible Wednesday into Wednesday night.
High Wind Watches have been issued for the potential second round of winds Wednesday morning through Wednesday night.
