SE Wyoming Mountains Expected To Get Heavy Snow, I-80 Near Whiteouts Possible
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says the Sierra Madre and Snowy Range Mountains in southeast Wyoming could get a foot and a half of snow and winds of up to 60 miles per hour this week.
Snow squalls could cover a wider area that includes Laramie and Buford, and travelers on Interstate 80 could face near whiteout conditions at times.
The agency posted the following on its website
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the mountains from 5 AM Tuesday through 5 AM Thursday. 12 to 18 inches of snow expected, with locally higher amounts possible in the peaks. On Tuesday morning, conditions are favorable for snow squalls along and west of the Laramie Range (highlighted area). Hazardous driving conditions possible with near-whiteout conditions within snow squalls.
