In cooperation with Albany County School District No. 1 and Laramie High School, KOWB is proud to help with the 2020 Capping Ceremony on Friday.

KOWB (AM 1290) will be broadcasting the entire ceremony live to assist those in attendance with hearing the two speakers, plus capping instructions.

The LHS Class of 2020 Capping Ceremony will take place in the Ford Stadium Lot or the parking lot on the east side of War Memorial Stadium. Seniors from Laramie High School will be joined by family in one vehicle that’s allowed to enter the lot. There will be several individuals helping to park all the vehicles.

The main stage will be set up in the middle of the lot that will include Laramie High School principal Chuck Kern, the two student speakers, and other dignitaries. All social distancing protocols will be followed.

With seniors and families asked to stay in their vehicle during much of the ceremony, KOWB agreed to help with their ability to listen to tonight’s ceremony. We’re very happy to partner with ACSD and LHS for this special ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. and is expected to last around 30 minutes. KOWB will begin its coverage shortly before six o’clock with David Settle anchoring things from the lot on the east side of War Memorial Stadium.

Following the ceremony, a vehicle parade to honor the LHS Senior Class of 2020 will take place. Vehicles will exit the stadium lot by turning left and heading north on 22nd Street. Then, they will make a right turn and proceed east on Willett Drive to 30th Street. That’s followed by another right turn onto 30th to head south. Vehicles will go through the traffic light at Grand Ave to Garfield Street (one block south) and turn left. Once on Garfield, vehicles will proceed east to Boulder Drive. Take a right turn onto Boulder and proceed south all the way past the high school to Turner Drive (south end of LHS). Take a right turn and head west towards where the pavement ends. Turn right on the road that enters the west side of LHS, back by the swimming pool and open grass area. Proceed towards Deti Stadium where vehicles will parade around the football stadium and track. Faculty and staff will be around the track to greet the Class of 2020. Here is a map of the route:

Any other district personnel, such as teachers, administrators, or staff from other schools will be in the stands at Deti Stadium. All will be following social distancing measures.

KOWB’s coverage is presented by Laramie GM Auto Center, ‘One Low Price, Plain and Simple, Always.’ We’d also like to thank UniWyo Federal Credit Union, Cowboy Glass, and ACPE Federal Credit Union for their sponsorship of tonight’s broadcast.

We hope you enjoy the ceremony.

To the Class of 2020, we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors!
