A 37-year-old man could spend over a decade in prison if convicted of two felony drug crimes charged against him in Albany County District Court.

Charles Lang Reno faces a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison and $25,000 in fines if convicted of possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

Court documents say on Sept. 29, an Albany County Sheriff's deputy pulled over a 2013 Chevrolet Impala driven by Reno on Third Street for expired registration.

The deputy allegedly smelled marijuana after approaching the Impala, so he searched the vehicle.

Inside the car, the deputy allegedly found an empty syringe and two spoons with suspected heroin residue in them. In the back seat, the deputy allegedly found just less than 10 ounces of marijuana in a black grocery bag.

Reno told the deputy everything in the car belonged to him, according to the affidavit, and allegedly told the deputy he would find more syringes if he kept searching.

The deputy took a second look and allegedly found a compartment behind the car's stereo. Inside was around 10 grams of methamphetamine in crystalline form as well as a little more than a gram of black tar heroin.

Reno is set to appear for his arraignment Nov. 29.
