Man Pleads Guilty to Cocaine Charge as Part of Plea Deal
A man accused of multiple drug charges pleaded guilty to one of them during his change of plea hearing in Albany County District Court Tuesday.
Jeffrey Fuechsel, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance- cocaine, as part of a plea deal. In exchange for his guilty plea, the state will dismiss his remaining counts – one count of delivery of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The state will also recommend probation at sentencing.
Albany County District Court Judge Tori Kricken reminded Fuechsel before he pleaded that a plea agreement is not set in stone and the court may choose to reject the plea agreement. In that case, Kricken said, Fuechsel could not take back his guilty plea.
Fuechsel was arrested after a special agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the South East Enforcement Team conducted an undercover operation to uncover a possible cocaine source in Laramie, court documents state.
On June 19, The WDCI conducted an undercover operation to purchase cocaine from an individual from Jackson, Wyoming, who was later identified as Fuechsel. An informant met with Fuechsel and returned with .33 grams of cocaine. Another meeting was set up, this time with an undercover agent present at Perkins Restaurant in Laramie.
During the meeting, which occurred on June 30, Fuechsel agreed to get the undercover agent large amounts of cocaine. Fuechsel said he was going to leave the meeting and go get “product” for the undercover agent, according to court documents.
Fuechsel returned to Perkins and gave the agent a green Camel Crush cigarette box with about one gram of a white powdery substance. The agent and the informant talked to Fuechsel about possibly buying “party drugs” such as MDMA and Ecstasy. Fuechsel said he could get those as well, according to the affidavit.
The white powdery substance tested positive for cocaine. WDCI and SEET conducted a trash pull on July 17 at Fuechsel’s address in Laramie and discovered a number of items with marijuana residue, as well as items with white powder residue and a baggie with a suspected Ecstasy “pac-man” tablet, among other items.
On July 19, SEET executed a search warrant on Fuechsel’s address, where they found six, one-gram packages and two, half -gram packages of cocaine, all of which were individually packages and in a black case. The case was located on Fuechsel’s person, court documents state. The cocaine was field tested and came back positive for cocaine.
Fuechsel will be sentenced pending a pre-sentence investigation.
