Miranda Lambert’s Queen of Hearts Tattoo Inspired ‘Wildcard’ Album Name
Miranda Lambert wears the inspiration for the title of her forthcoming new album Wildcard on her sleeve -- literally. While co-hosting Country Countdown USA With Lon Helton, the singer explained that the origin of her new record's title comes from her newest tattoo.
“I got a tattoo of the Queen of Hearts wildcard on my right forearm," Lambert shared. "I’ve been through a lot these past few years. I got this tattoo to remind me to be the queen of my own heart. So that’s where the title came from.”
Lambert's Queen of Hearts tattoo reflects her journey from the breakup songs on 2016's The Weight of These Wings, her most recent album, to the happy marriage behind her rebellious return to form on Wildcard, which is due out on Nov. 1. In January, the country star married New York City police officer Brendan McLoughlin, whom she met in late 2018, shortly after getting her new ink.
“It took 7 1/2 hours," Lambert adds. "I’ve never talked about it to anyone. No one’s ever asked. I worked with this tattoo artist in Oklahoma City, and he drew it up for me, and we talked about what it meant.
"All of my tattoos have meaning," she continues. "So I feel I have a reminder on my arm to take care of me.”
Lambert has been releasing some of the songs from Wildcard in recent weeks, including the Maren Morris duet "Way Too Pretty for Prison" and the hopped-up country-punk song "Locomotive." It's the first Lambert album produced by Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Ashley McBryde) after a long working relationship with Frank Liddell.
