Wyoming senior safety Alijah Halliburton was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

Halliburton had a career-best 17 tackles, which included one tackle for loss. He also recovered a fumble late in the first half inside the Wyoming five-yard line and returned it 84 yards to the Missouri 12-yard line. That set up a Cooper Rothe field goal that ended the first half and helped the Cowboys to a 27-17 halftime lead.

UW’s 37-31 victory over Missouri was the Pokes’ first win over a Power 5 opponent in the Craig Bohl era and its first since 2008 at Tennessee.

Wyoming returns to action Saturday at Texas State. Kick-off is at 5 p.m., Mountain Time.

Hawai'i receiver Cedric Byrd was chosen the MW Offensive Player of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week honors was shared by Boise State kicker Eric Sachse and Nevada's Brandon Talton.
