More Vehicle Wrecks Around Laramie Early Wednesday
Ice and slick conditions caused problems on roads around the Laramie area yet again Wednesday morning according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
WHP reported two semi-trucks crashed in separate incidents on westbound Interstate 80 in Telephone Canyon east of town around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Those were at mileposts 322 and 321. Both caused partial lane blockage but were cleared around 6 a.m. Black ice in the canyon and speeds too fast for the conditions are being investigated as possible factors.
Wyoming Highway Patrol discovered a single-vehicle rollover on WY Highway 130 near milepost three, just west of Laramie, about 4:30 a.m. WHP believes the crash may have occurred around 2:00 a.m. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, evidence supports the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 130 into Laramie at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control on a curve, left the edge of the highway, and rolled multiple times before the vehicle came to rest on its wheels. The driver was not with the vehicle. WHP notes that it is a crime to not report any property or injury crash immediately to law enforcement.
Wyoming Highway Patrol located the injured driver at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. The driver was wearing a seatbelt that kept that individual in the vehicle. WHP reported that this person has serious injuries and was transferred to a Colorado hospital for further treatment.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol reminds the public that it is extremely dangerous to transfer persons involved in a serious crash and not use ambulance services and trained personnel. You can significantly jeopardize the patients care.
Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.
More rain and snow showers are in the forecast, which could lead to more changing road conditions Wednesday night, Thursday and into Friday morning.
