New Cell Tower to Bring Better Coverage to LJHS, Surrounding Area
A new stealth cell tower under construction at the Laramie Fire Station No. 2 is expected to bring improved Verizon cell coverage to the area.
According to an update from the City of Laramie, Verizon Wireless approached the city several years ago to propose installing a stealth tower.
Laramie Fire Chief Dan Johnson said the stealth tower will be concealed in a cupola on the roof of the fire station.
Johnson said the tower will provide better cell service to the area, including the Laramie Junior High School.
“It will increase coverage and data capacity in the area for the public and also for us,” Johnson said. “It will improve things in the station like emergency medical service reporting and on-scene information.”
The tower is expected to be completed within the next month.
