Public Listening Sessions in Presidential Search

As the University of Wyoming continues to search for its next president, the public and members of the academic community will be able to give opinions on what characteristics and qualifications they would like to see in the new leader at listening sessions scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22.  Representatives of the consulting firm Storbeck Pimentel, which was hired by the Board of Trustees to assist with the candidate search, will lead the meetings.

An open lunch meeting with the public and the campus community is set for Monday in Laramie, from 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library.  University of Wyoming students are invited to attend a meeting in the same place from 2- 3 p.m.  From 5- 6:30 p.m. that same day, a statewide outreach meeting will originate from Room 420 of the Casper College Student Union/University of Wyoming Building.  The meeting is open to the public, and interested parties can attend in person on the UW-Casper site or via the University of Wyoming’s Outreach Video Network.

Citizens and students can also submit comments online regarding what they’d like to see in a new University of Wyoming President.

"The input we gather will be valuable to guide us as we consider candidates to help ensure the best possible fit for the university and the state,” says Trustee Jeff Marsh, who chairs the first committee.  "This is a chance for people to let us know what they want to see in a new president."

Input from the public and stakeholder groups will be used in developing criteria for the evaluation of candidates by two distinct committees.  The fourteen members of each committee represent the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, the public, and the University of Wyoming Foundation.

The first committee is a charged with composing a list of 10-15 semi-finalist candidates from the many applications for presidency.  After selection, the second committee will interview semi-finalist candidates in selecting 3-5 finalists.  Those candidates will then be interviewed by the full Board of Trustees, and a new president may be selected by late December.
