Slick Roads, Travel Hazards Expected From SE Wyoming Winter Storm
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for the Cheyenne and Laramie areas tonight.
Winter storm warnings have been issued for other parts of the state (see map below). The latest statement from the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is predicting that the storm will start with rain late this afternoon or this evening.
But freezing temperatures are expected to turn the rain to ice, followed by snow, creating problematic travel conditions in many areas.
Here is the latest National Weather Service message of the day on the storm"
• Rapidly falling temperatures this evening: Will cause precipitation that starts out as rain to freeze on roadways quickly, particularly bridges.
• Even a few hundredths of an inch of glaze plus snow on top could cause significant travel and road impacts. • Widespread accumulating snow tonight - Friday AM.
• Winter Storm Watches/Warnings tonight – Friday AM. • Hazardous travel likely this evening - Friday morning.
