Study Ranks Wyoming The 32nd ‘Fattest’ State In America
We could stand to lose a few pounds, but folks here in the Cowboy State are in better shape than most of the country, according to a new study ranking Wyoming as the 32nd fattest state in America.
Wyoming ranked below the national average, 32nd overall, for the percentage of adults that are overweight or obese, 47th for the percentage of adults with high cholesterol and 48th for the percentage of obese children.
Mississippi was the named the fattest state in the country, ranking second for the highest percentage of obese adults, first for the highest percentage of obese children, second for the highest percentage of physically inactive adults, and third for the highest percentage of adults with high cholesterol, type-2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama rounded out the five fattest states.
Utah was the fittest state in the study, followed by Colorado, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California. Around the region, Nebraska was the fattest state, ranking 27th nationwide, while Montana (35th), Idaho (38th), and South Dakota (39th) ranked among the fittest states in America.
