Super Scoopers Fill Up at Lake Hattie for Fire Fighting Efforts [PHOTOS] [VIDEO]
Super Scoopers are filling up at Lake Hattie near Medicine Bow National Forest to assist with the Badger Creek Fire fighting efforts.
According to the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Black, the planes fly at speeds of up to 100 mph over the surface of the water. They can scoop large amounts of water into a tank in the 'belly' of the plane, up to 1,600 gallons in 10 seconds.
Boating is currently prohibited on Lake Hattie, for the safety of boaters and firefighting pilots. Announcements will be made on InciWeb and the Badger Creek Fire Facebook page when boats are allowed again. Anglers may still fish from the shore.
