Albany County School District No. 1

The Wyoming Department of Education released data on high school graduation rates across the state. While Albany County's numbers were comparable with the state average, the school district is looking to student engagement and career readiness strategies to boost graduation numbers.

The Albany County School District No. 1 says the portraits, which have been a tradition since 2005, violate district policies.

Albany County School District One is again sponsoring the Summer Food Service Program for youth in the community for nine weeks this summer.

The Albany County School District No.1 Board of Education approved personnel appointments during their regular board meeting Wednesday, April 10.

The Albany County School District No.1 Board approved the new names of the Laramie Junior High School as well as the old Deti Stadium during their regular meeting Wednesday, May 10.

In the lawsuit filed in February, ACSD No. 1 and three employees were accused of failing to act to prevent alleged sexual harassment of a former Harmony Elementary School student by another student, which the lawsuit claims eventually led to sexual assault.

In an email sent to parents of LJHS students, Principal Debbie Fisher notified parents of the situation and asked for any assistance the parents could offer.

Some teachers and parents of students at Slade Elementary School are dissatisfied with the Albany County School District No.1 Administration’s response to a mouse infestation at the school.

The 2017 edition of “Project Graduation” is coming Friday, May 26 at the Laramie Ice and Events Center.

Superintendent Jubal Yennie said the move is to avoid confusion about the names of the structures.

ACSD No.1 has appointed a new principal for the Laramie junior high school and is making progress on filling other vacant positions.

“We have had to get more efficient, which is totally acceptable,” Yennie said. “We understand what needs to happen at a state level; we’ve got a funding issue. Then again, there’s a constitutional decree that we provide a basket of goods and the legislature’s supposed to provide a basket of goods.”
