The Laramie Fire Department took time to recognize the firefighters, EMT's and others who went above and beyond in their duties last year during the Laramie Fire Department's 2017 Awards Ceremony on Friday at City Hall.
LFD Fire Chief Dan Johnson said fire crews were attending the fire yesterday and this morning. He said crews were working to push the burning material to a central location and create and maintain a perimeter for the fire, as well as removing any burnable material outside of the perimeter.
Fire Chief Dan Johnson crews are there this morning and Solid Waste is operating heavy equipment to push the debris to a central location and has contained the fire to the green waste pile.
The fire Saturday night was extinguished within 10 minutes and no other structures were damaged. The homeowner was able to exit the structure before the arrival of Fire Department.
Proceeds from ticket sales and the evening’s auctions will go to the Burn Out Fund, which benefits those who have been affected by tragedies such as structure fires.
