Can you believe no musical star from Wyoming ever won a grammy? What all of them have done, however, is pretty cool.

Chris LeDoux, the pride of Cheyenne Central High school, was nominated for Best Country Collaboration with Garth Brooks in 1993, for "Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy?" (Video of the song is below.) In 2005 The Academy of Country Music gave Chris their Pioneer Award.

John Perry Barlow, who actually retired a cattleman, was born in Jackson Hole, and was once a lyricist for a band called the Grateful Dead. They’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but got snubbed at the grammys, until 2007, when the Grammys did give them a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Scott Avett of the Avett Brothers - born in Cheyenne - played live on the Grammy Awards in 2011 before joining Bob Dylan for a performance. Two years later the brothers were nominated for a grammy in the Best Americana Album category. Two more nominations came this year for Best Americana Album and Best Americana Roots Performance. Still, the Avetts have no grammy of their own. By the way The Avett Brothers play a three night run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver in July.

Laramie’s own Blind Dog Smokin’ was nominated in 2015 for Best Blues Album with their “Decisions.” It didn’t take home the grammy, but “Decisions” had already won Best Soul Blues Album at The Blues Blast Music Awards.“Best Soul Blues Album” in the Blues Blast Music Awards.
