Wyoming Cops Use Taser To Free Moose From A Hammock [VIDEO]

A family in Pinedale, Wyo. had an unexpected houseguest on Sunday, when a bull moose got his antlers tangled in a hammock.

When Sublette County Sheriff's Deputies arrived and confirmed the 1,000-lb. animal was stuck, they called in Wyoming Game and Fish and devised a plan to free the moose with a taser instead of tranquilizing it.

"Due to the nature of the entangled animal and the proximity to hunting season, a tranquilizer would render the animal not harvestable and inedible," the Sheriff's Office explained on Facebook.

Wyoming Game and Fish had used tasers in the past to help free large animals without having to use tranquilizers. Luckily, the plan worked again and the bull moose escaped without injuries.

After the ordeal, the Sublette County Sheriff's Office encouraged residents to remove hammocks and other items that could pose a safety hazard to wild animals from their years.

"This time of year, with the rut starting and animals rubbing velvet, we want to join the Game and Fish in asking citizens to remove hanging items, hammocks, bird feeders, or anything else moose, deer, and other wildlife could get tangled in," they said.
