Wyoming’s Weird Reindeer Law Could Get Santa Fined
Santa Claus is known across the world as Father Christmas, St. Nicholas, and Kris Kringle. If the Wyoming Game and Fish Department ever catches up with him, he might need another alias.
For years, Santa has willfully disregarded a state law that prohibits anyone from bringing reindeer into Wyoming without a permit.
Although he hasn't been caught in the act, the Norad Santa Tracker has documented Kringle and his team of reindeer flying over the Cowboy State every Christmas Eve for nearly six decades.
If, and when Santa, is apprehended and finally brought to justice, he could face a fine and be forced to obtain an official state permit for each of his eight reindeer.
In 2011, Murdoch's Ranch and Home Store in Laramie had to cancel an event featuring live reindeer after being informed of the law by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
