Starting on Tuesday, May 30, the Albany County Public Library will host the "50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons" exhibit showcasing the work of children's author Maurice Sendak

The exhibit, which contains a compilation of 50 original pieces by Sendak in addition to quotes from those who knew and were influenced by him, was created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sendak's most famous book, Where the Wild Things Are. Additional displays and interactive elements will also be placed throughout the library.

As the exhibit travels across all 50 states, it only makes one stop in each state. Of the exhibit, Albany County Public Library Foundation Executive Director Caitlin White says, "We're excited to host an exhibit that honors the memory of Maurice Sendak. The exhibit will give our community a chance to know this famous author and illustrator through several different pieces of art."

The exhibit will be open Monday-Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will run through July 8. For more information or to arrange a private tour, contact Caitlin White by calling 307-721-2580 x5456 or by emailing cwhite@albanycountylibrary.org.
