Badger Creek Fire Over 19,000 Acres
UPDATE: The Badger Creek Fire is now 19,243 acres and is 28 percent contained.
Original Story:
The Badger Creek Fire has now grown to 17,934 acres, with zero containment.
On Saturday, crews will continue to build and strengthen control lines along the south, west and north edge of the fire. The focus will also be on protecting structures and other at risk values.
An increase in moisture in the atmosphere is expected for the fire area beginning Saturday and lasting through the weekend and rainfall amounts of up to 1/2 inch could fall in the area Sunday and is expected to help in the fire suppression efforts.
Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Black said this is a full suppression fire, meaning that crews are implementing strategies and tactics where firefighters can be successful at the lowest risk to accomplish the goals of minimizing impact to structures, private property and natural and cultural resources.
Updates on the fire can be found on InciWeb and the Badger Creek Fire Facebook page.
