Time's 2017 “Person of the Year" was named this week  ("Silence Breakers.") There was no "Wyoming Person of the Year" that we knew of, but we got some good candidates, and you chose a 21-year-old saddle bronc rider from Hillsdale, Wyoming.

The Six candidates we nominated for Wyoming Person of the Year:

1. Janie Wait of Casper is the owner of Intermountain Record Center and was already chosen Wyoming's Small Business Person of the Year in 2017.

2. Ryan Fuhrman, seventh grade Science Teacher for Sheridan County School District 2 is 2017's Wyoming Teacher of the Year.

3. Anne Ellingson is the super single mom on a Jackson Hole ranch. Do we have a Parent of the Year?

4. Cheyenne's first female Mayor, Marian Orr, many believe is off to a great start in her first full year.

5. Taylor Sheridan, who directed the movie "Wind River," a few years ago moved to Salt River, Wyoming.

6. Brody Cress is the 2017 Cheyenne Frontier Days Saddle Bronc Champion. Having grown up just east of Cheyenne, it wasn't his first rodeo (I mean not his first time to go to the rodeo here). It was just his first time to win it. (We also have our fingers crossed for our saddle bronc kid this week in Las Vegas.) Brody might be Wyoming's Athlete of the Year. Congratulations for being our PERSON of the Year.

Here's our highly unscientific breakdown on the voting :

Jane Wait ……………………………………. .6.65 Percent

Ryan Fuhrman ………………………………. 4.25  Percent

Anne Ellingson ………………………………. 2.31 Percent

Marian Orr ……………………………………..27.03 Percent

Taylor Sheridan ………………………………. 8.50 Percent

Brody Cress ………………………………….. 51.35 Percent
