Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Laramie’s Lincoln Community Center
It’s fiesta time at the Lincoln Community Center where they are hosting a Cinco de Mayo celebration this Saturday. It will be quite a party with a car show, dinner, music and dancing.
LCC Americorp volunteer Katie Glennemeier said the event is new this year, and is definitely something they are hoping to turn into an annual event. It was put together by Paul Weaver, the director of the LCC, as they continue to promote diversity and the West Side neighborhood. Also the board members thought it sounded like fun.
Things will get started at 4 p.m. with a classic and contemporary car show. People are welcome to bring their vehicles to show off. Glennemeier reported that you can just show up with your car, there is not any registration or anything needed.
The car show will be followed by a dinner at 6 p.m. which costs $5. Then things will kick into high gear with music and dancing at 8 p.m.
The LCC is finishing up a major renovation project and has a grand opening tentatively set for July. This is a great to chance to not only see how the building has been improved, but also have some fun with the rest of the community.
