Dying Denver Broncos Fan Crosses Final Item Off His Bucket List
Martin Howe doesn't have much time left. The 18-year-old was recently diagnosed with terminal Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. His dying wish is to spend the last weeks of his life close to his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos.
Earlier this month, Howe was released from the hospital in Oregon and will spend his final weeks in Denver. He will probably not live long enough to see another season but he's already crossed the most important items off his bucket list.
On Sunday, his favorite player Peyton Manning called. At first, Martin wasn't sure who was on the phone, until he heard the future Hall of Famer utter those famous words, "Omaha, Omaha".
During the conversation, friends and family shared one of Martin's favorite memories with Manning. He was there for Peyton's final game when the Broncos won Super Bowl 50.
"It's bittersweet, but probably the most fun time of my life, and in his as well," Martin's dad Justin Howe told KOMO News. "He's always faced his fights with a can-do attitude, and trying to enjoy today and not focus so much on where the destiny is. And that's how we plan to show him to live as we plan to take that trip off to Colorado for his final ride."
