Question:

Why does the city think it was a safer idea to put diagonal parking on Garfield? It's a fairly busy street and I witnessed almost 4 accidents on its first full day of being reopened.

Answer:

"Garfield Street, between Boulder Drive and 30th Street, has been a safety concern for several years because of its high use, numerous driveways, and limited visibility. Over the past two years, city staff has brought forward many design options before the public, area businesses, the traffic commission, and city council. By implementing this solution, we have greatly improved sight distance at these intersections, as well as increasing the number of parking spaces available to the public. The back-in diagonal parking was designed to national standards in traffic engineering and is successfully being used elsewhere in the city."

Ask the City Of Laramie is your chance to send the city that burning question that you have always wondered about such as: “Where can I get a city parking permit?” or “Why did my water usage rates go through the roof?”

Please note that the City of Laramie will answer as many questions as possible at their discretion.
